Egg donation in Laos is a great choice for many intended parents. There are basically two reasons why intended parents would need to use an egg donor to make their baby. First, a woman’s eggs may not be viable due to her age or due to health reasons. Second, many gay couples or single intended parents choose an egg donor so they can use their own sperm and the baby will be biologically theirs. This is a much better option to gay intended parents than adoption where there is no biological connection.
Most women don’t realize that they are born with a certain number of eggs and this number never increases. Unlike men who constantly produce sperm, a woman is given a certain number of eggs and once they are gone, they are gone. Research shows that by the time a woman reaches 30 years of age, 90% of her ovarian reserve is gone. By the time she reaches 40 years of age, the average woman has less than 2% of her ovarian reserve. While it only takes one egg to produce a baby, an older woman’s eggs are not as healthy and there are many risks of using her eggs to make a baby. For instance, there is a higher chance the baby could be born with Down Syndrome. So choosing an egg donor would be a great option for older women who want to have children.
Choosing an egg donor can be a difficult decision to make. One thing is you will likely want to choose a donor who looks like you. Age is also important. Most egg donors are between the ages of 22 to 27. Many egg donors at this age produce many eggs of high quality. We have seen donors produce 30 to 40 eggs which increases the odds highly that an intended parent or parents will have a better chance to get their baby because they will have multiple embryos which they then can have more than one cycle if needed.
There are two types of egg donors. The first types are proven egg donors. These are donors who have donated in the past and have produced many eggs which led to a pregnancy. This increases the success rates by a lot. The second type of egg donors are ones who have never donated before. Some intended parents prefer these egg donors because they don’t want their children to have half-brothers and half-sisters around the world. They may feel more comfortable knowing their donor only donated to them.
